Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)

It had been a long time since I saw this movie the first time, and I think then it was under parental pressure. This time around, I gave myself the option of either enjoying it or getting bored and giving up. Luckily, I did enjoy each moment, all 126 minutes. The story as a whole does not carry itself, but just when you might wander, another unique and stirring song comes along.  Yankee Doodle Dandy gives a refreshing and interesting view of early 20th century America and provides many great tunes that ring as true in 2011 as in 1942.
