It had been a long time since I saw this movie the first time, and I think then it was under parental pressure. This time around, I gave myself the option of either enjoying it or getting bored and giving up. Luckily, I did enjoy each moment, all 126 minutes. The story as a whole does not carry itself, but just when you might wander, another unique and stirring song comes along. Yankee Doodle Dandy gives a refreshing and interesting view of early 20th century America and provides many great tunes that ring as true in 2011 as in 1942.

This movie was kind of a surprise to me. I have long known that Jim Carrey can pull anything off, and I expected a repeat of his performance in Fun with Dick and Jane, which he certainly delivered, but this movie held so much honesty as well. Ewan McGregor was a perfectly cast title character, where he blended humor and drama into a quite believable telling of a true story. My Rating- 3.0

When I first saw the title of this movie, I thought it would be like many other romantic comedies, with a little spice. What I got was completely different. Rather than this being a raunchy comedy about group sex, Sex and Breakfast showed the sensitive side of how two couples dealt with a stagnation in their relationship, sexually and emotionally. I think the real star of this movie was Macaulay Culkin, who convincingly portrayed a man torn between pleasing his girlfriend and tempting himself with another woman. My Rating- 3.5
